What is your Blood Sugar Level?
Okay, let's face it. Do you really know the sugar level in your blood? It doesn't matter your age, race, religion, tribe, social class, weather condition, etc, as long as you are careless about your health, then you are bound to suffer some health challenges.
Okay, lets get something straight.
For the fact that your blood sugar level is high does not mean you are diabetic or you have diabetes.
But if your blood sugar is high, you are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes and also are at increased risk of developing heart disease.
High blood sugar could also be referred or called 'Pre-diabetes'. Pre-diabetes is a condition in which blood glucose levels are higher than normal, but not high enough to be classified as full-blown diabetes. Those with pre-diabetes are at increased risk of developing 'type 2' diabetes within a decade unless they adopt a healthier lifestyle that includes weight loss and more physical activity.
We are still discussing high blood sugar. And we're are going to look at people that are at risk of having high blood sugar.
The following categories of people should be screened for high blood sugar;
* Those who consume so many carbohydrates.
* Those who are not active in exercise.
*Those under stress.
* Anyone with infection.
Symptoms of High Blood Sugar
* Headache
* Fatigue- always feeling weak or tired
* Weight loss
* Inability to concentrate
* Always thirsty
* Blurred vision
* Frequent urination
Treatment and Control of High Blood Sugar Level
If your blood sugar level is consistently too high, there are ways to normalize it, but you have to take precaution in doing it.
Meal Plan: A healthy diet and proper meal planning can help you in a great way. This includes eating often, watching intake of sugar and carbohydrates, limiting use of alcohol, and eating a diet rich in vegetables, fruit and whole grains.
If you are having difficulty planning meals, talk to your
doctor or dietitian.
Exercise: Regular exercise is important, whether you are having health issues or not. Maintaining a healthy level of
activity can help you keep your blood glucose level in a normal range.
Medication: Your doctor should be able to give you the required medication for your predicament.
NB: High blood sugar is prevalent in our society today, and it is attacking everyone, including children.
Always go for medical check ups, and also try to have sugar level device; we all need to have one.
